Tea House & star trails Panorama, emerald bay

I love creating unique images of often photographed locations! This is a time exposure image of the tea house on Fannette Island in Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. My friend Jim and I hopped into a kayak at 10:30 at night and paddled 1 1/2 hours over to Fannette Isalnd. I proceeded to set up my 4x5 inch and 2 1/4 x 6 3/4 inch film cameras in preparation for this image. I exposed the film for 1 1/2 hours for the star trails, and used a propane lantern to illuminate the interior of the structure for 30 minutes. The outside of the structure was painted with the light from my headlamp for 20 minutes. I have never seen anyone photograph this location in this manner. I had a fantastic adventure, and love the unique and beautiful outcome of the resulting image.
