Twilight Illumination, Grand Canyon, Arizona

The Grand Canyon can be a frustrating place to take pictures. The air is often hazy, and the light harsh. For this image, I waited until everyone else had left the rim (the sun had set after all). I Opened my shutter about 15 minutes after the sun had set, and left it open for almost 20 minutes. This long exposure in low light eliminated all the daylight problems, enabling me to capture the atmospheric glow of dusk. Along with this amazing color, the long exposure accentuated the movement of the clouds enhancing the painterly feel of this image.
The 8x10 inch film enabled me to retain the amazing detail of this "painted with light" masterpiece.
