Sunset Glow, Willow Flats, Grand Tetons

The softness and warmth I had envisioned for this image differs greatly from the typical "strong" image of these dramatic mountains. While it is difficult to pull off, shooting into the setting sun can be very rewarding. The silhouette of the Teton Range is always a world class backdrop. As the sun began to drop behind the ridge, there was a moment when its warm rays kissed the highest peaks (Mount Moran & The Grand Teton), and backlit the fall colored willow bushes in the valley. As grand as this scene is, I am drawn to its warmth, detail and subtlety. This image mirrors how I feel when I am fortunate enough to be in these seemingly untouched natural places.
