After an amazing night photographing star trails on Fannette Island in Emerald Bay, my buddy Jim and I pulled our kayak onto the shore of DL Bliss State Park. We arrived in time to experience the glow of pre-dawn light. This composition, including the crescent moon, was screaming to me. I was just able to set up my 2 1/4 x 6 3/4 inch film camera, compose the image, meter the scene and expose the film before the color became washed out. My normal setup process was hampered by my numbness and shaking. Hypothermia makes loading film very difficult...but I'm getting used to it. The greatest images come with great vision, and emotional tie to the environment, and a bit of physical suffering mixed in. Anything worth having whould be earned:)
