One of my favorite things to do when I don't have time to travel for photography is to search out beautiful little details near my home in South Lake Tahoe, California. I scouted this location the previous evening, and returned in the morning for just the right light. While still in the shade, the morning sun was reflecting off of the cliffs in front of me and adding a nice soft fill light. This soft light, along with the wet sand, enabled me to capture extremely rich colors, contrasted strongly with the light colored leaves. The simplicity of this composition is its strength. It is amazingly satisfying to find such beauty in little details most people walk right past.
