This incredible tree, a Western Juniper, absolutely captivated me. I waited for just the right conditions to create this image. A misty, rainy, overcast day was required to capture the rich tones of brown and green, as well as alluding to what this ancient being has endured. Seeing where and how life can subsist leaves me in awe. That is one of the things that attracts me to my natural subject matter; the affirmation of life's power to persist!
