Yosemite and the Sierras

Dusk, Mono Lake Tufa Panorama

Dusk, Mono Lake Tufa Panorama

Returning from a brief trip to Bishop, California, I decided to stop at Mono Lake and scout for future photo possibilities. After scouting the sand tufa (which I did not shoot), I decided to take a look at the iconic tufa formations in the lake itself. As sunset was rapidly approaching, I threw on my camera backpack and ran to an area that wasn't crouded with other photographers. I set up my camera and waited through sunset, watched everyone else leave, and was rewarded with amazing atmospheric glow and reflections in the calm water. Not a bad first visit. I put on my headlamp and slowly walked back to my truck wondering why everyone always leaves so early. It is a real pleasure to experience amazing moments like this in peaceful solitude. When I get back to the gallery, I get to share the experience with each of you. The best of both worlds.
