Yosemite and the Sierras

February in Yosemite is a magical time. Very few people are in the valley, and you can feel the peace of this iconic location. This trip was special, as I camped with my son Noah, who was eight at the time. He is a real trooper, and having his help on this snowy day was fantastic. While the snow dumped from the sky, Noah held two umbrellas up in an effort to keep everything dry as I set up my 4x5 field camera. We were alone, and the blanket of snow muffled all sound. The snow also eliminated the background, adding a soft feel to this ancient tree. While this is a color image, it has the simple feel of a black and white.
