Rarely had I seen light like this. It was absolutely magical. It had rained for three days straight, and the forecast was calling for the storm to end late in the day. So, I grabbed my pack and headed out along the Carson River in Hope Valley, just south of my home in Lake Tahoe. As predicted, the rain slowed and the clouds began to break. As the sun set the entire world began to glow! Everything, sky, rocks, trees, and river were bathed in this painterly amber light. Given that it was relatively dark, the one exposure I was able to make was quite long. This gave the moving water a silky feel that went perfectly with the painterly tone of the image. This is why I head out the door when everyone else is hiding inside!
