Juniper & Eratics in Fog Black and White

A rare foggy day sent me into the mountains to compose images of the fall colors. Well, this is what I was drawn to. A classic image. That is the difference between photojournalism and fine art photography. I am moved to compose images relative tohow they make me feel, not by what I "should" shoot. This gnarled old Juniper, clinging to life on a shelf of granite, in the company of a lone boulder, called to me. The fog created a feeling of mystery, and history. One exposure is all it took. As I processed the 4x5 inch sheet of film, I hoped my vision had been preserved. I love the magic of the traditional darkroom! I hope you feel this one as I do.
