Sunset Over Fallen Leaf Lake & Lake Tahoe

This was one of those evening I just had a feeling about. Instead of going for a bike ride, I used this photo opportunity as my evening workout. My idea was to head about half way up mount Tallac in order to give myself a good vantage point for a sunset panorama if things came together. So, I grabbed my camera pack and headed to the trail head. Given that I always like to arrive a little early, I put on my pack and hit the trail with urgency. As it turns out, a 45 pound pack and a steep hill make for a great workout when taken at high intensity. Fortunately, I was able to find a vantage point I liked about 20 yards off trail and was able to get my 8x10 camera set up in time for quite a light show. As you can see here, I chose to shoot 4x10 inch panoramic film to fit the composition I liked. I actually received several text messages from friends asking if I was out shooting the neon colors at the beach. Yeah, I was out there!
