Tranquility
There are moments in nature that seem to transcend most others. For me, those moments offer a sense of peace so idyllic that I don't want them to end. I stand in the silence and absorb the perfection. It is these moments that I dream of, that I pursue, and that I strive to capture in my art. "Tranquility" represents one of these peak moments.
I composed this image in one of my favorite aspen groves in Lake Tahoe. This is a location I have visited many times over the course of 20 years, yet I have taken relatively few images here. I had sensed something special, but I had to wait nearly two decades for Mother Nature to share this vision with me. It was well worth the wait.
Fog is a rarity here in Lake Tahoe, so when I awoke to these conditions, I had a sense as to where I needed to go. As an artist, I have to trust my instincts. This late Fall day offered the subtle colors changing undergrowth blanketing the forest floor and supporting the white trunks of Aspen trees. The fog enveloped the treetops, softening the light and adding a painterly quality to the scene. This composition was certainly painted by nature. I merely captured this feeling of "Tranquility" so, through my art, it can live on forever.
Enjoy the View!
