Great Horned Owl & Pines, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

One of the most common ways for finding wildlife in Yellowstone National Park is simply to drive the roads and remain aware. On this particular evening I was driving south to return to Grand Teton National Park. As I was rounding a corner, there he was. This beautiful Great Horned Owl, sitting on top of this snag looking right at me. I carefully pulled off the road and quietly leaned over the hood of my truck and captured several images while there was adequate light. I then drove away, thankful for the experience.
