Bonsai Sunset
Lake Tahoe shows her beauty in many ways. Stunning sunsets can be one of these. With a low snow pack, many locations were uncharacteristically accessible. I took advantage of this opportunity and hiked down to the Bonsai Rock area along the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe. I set my 8x10 inch film camera up to enable myself to shoot a 4x5 inch sheet of film, eliminating distractions and less dramatic areas of the sky. As I waited for the sun to set, i reveled in the anticipation of what was developing. Mother Nature was kind to me, eliminating wind and painting the sky in vibrant color. The mirrored water added to the drama, as did the silhouettes of Tahoe's famous granite boulders. I don't often pursue fiery sunsets, but hey, this is Tahoe! What a way to start the year. (Sunset, January 1)
Enjoy the View!
