Merced Reflections, Yosemite Valley, California

Yosemite is such an iconic place. I feel compelled to see it differently, and through my own experiences and emotions. I almost walke away from this image, as there were numerous photographers here, and I often shy away from crowds. Fortunately, they were al shooting digital and I was able to see that they weren't "seeing" this place in the way I was. I composed my image with my 4x5 inch film camera, exposed one piece of film, and quietly went on my way. I was drawn to the warm tones in this winter reflection, mixed with the black and white feel of the shoreline trees, snow and reflection. Given my bent toward subtlety, I did not include Yosemite Falls above, but merely its reflection. If you change your focus from the reflection and look beyond, there is a great amount of detail in the rocky river bottom. This is my Yosemite. Welcome!
