Grey Bear Portrait
This is one of my favorite wildlife images from one of my favorite wildlife experiences. While visiting the Brooks River in Katmai National Park I chose to leave the viewing platforms and create some unique images of Alaskan Brown Bears. This image of a sub adult male has that special eye to eye connection I was striving for. I observed this bear chasing salmon for quite some time. As he sat in the rive to rest I was able to capture this beautiful moment. I was chest deep in the river, photographing from the same height above the water as the bear. This type of intimate photograph is what I aspire toward capturing.
